beginner's installation problem

Postby krishnaraj916 on Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:55 am

I've downloaded the new linux mint 12 LISA from the torrent, and used a UNETBIn to convert the iso files into the ones required for booting up from a pen drive,But the problem is while conversion it shows options till mint 10, but still i loaded those files onto this pendrive to boot. The next time when i start to boot from it selecting option "USE MINT 12", it just hangs,...After couple of searches I figured out something like "-- acpi=off" (dunno what is it?)) must be added and it worked fine..during installation I used the partition as "ext2" and installed. After successful installation , I rebooted but then found that the boot menu doesn't appear!!:((
Please do help me, I am new to this:(

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you're talking about the grub boot menu, you can press and hold hte shift key while booting and it will show up. Mint doesn't show it by default.
