Maryan Linux
Maryan Linux is a distro based on Linux Mint using E17 as its default Desktop Environment. It will use the same ISO/OS that Linux Mint E17 was going to use until it was cancelled, but Maryan Linux will have NO artwork related to Linux Mint and the website won't have any Linux Mint artwork either. The website for Maryan Linux is - http://maryanlinux.wordpress.com/

Re: Maryan Linux
It hasn't been canceled; due to different ideas on the Mint Community Editions development process, Maty and Molom (previous MintE17 developers) decided to do an independent distro, Maryan.
Yeah, it will use Enlightenment 0.17, used by openGEU (previously Geubuntu), gOS and Elive.

Re: Maryan Linux
Maryan Linux is a bit different to Geubuntu/OpenGEU. It doesn't have that bar at the top, which I find to be an annoyance. And it comes with some Mint tools.
Re: Maryan Linux
The Maryan Linux Beta 1 has finally been released. Check http://www.maryanlinux.wordpress.com for details. Bug tracking is appreciated.
Re: Maryan Linux
I took a look at Maryan Linux yesterday, nice artwork but plenty of bugs. Usplash didn't work for me, black screen all the way to the desktop. It still had the Ubuntu tan color before the desktop loads. Mplayer would not play apple movie trailers. There were very few system tools to configure the system, this seems to be common with using an e-17 based system though. The system crashed on me a couple of times. Parts of ubiquity were left on the the system along with a few residual config files.
Maryan is a beta and definitely needs some work. I just had a quick look at it out of curiosity.

@exploder
Thank you so much. Your feedback is great help. Most of the bugs your mentioning are just simple cleanups that are needed for example the setting have not been placed in the applications menu yet and will be fixed in beta 2. I appreciate your help.

Re: Maryan Linux
Your welcome! The biggest problems are Usplash not displaying and ubiquity, everything else seemed like minor fixing compared to those two issues. Ubiquity is not working right at all, the first screen displayed from the Live CD is not graphical and the CD never ejects on shut down or restart. On shut down there is no graphical display, just a black screen and the system has to be manually restarted.
Is the panel supposed to stay in front of open windows?

Re: Maryan Linux
Yes, the panel is in front by default, but can be fixed by doing this:
right click on the shelf you want it to NOT be overlapped when maximizing a window, then go to > shelf x > Shelf Configuration > Advanced (on the new pop up window)
Now under 'stacking’ on the top left of the window uncheck ‘Allow windows to overlap’ > apply
(When it says shelf x, there will be a number where x is, which specifies which shelf your using)
Its funny all the people I know that have used it has their usplash working, but it is quite ugly and low res, which could be the problem. I think beta 2 will be a lot better. E17 is quite good, OZOS is very, very stable and is a xubuntu hacked e17 distro. I haven't had any crashes and the same to many others, I wonder why you have had crashes.
E17 is not buggy at all if you use the right CVS, the OZOS CVS has taken out a lot of rubbish, which has a result of it being very stable. E17 isn't just completely finished, for example there is no button to import startup themes, they have to be inserted into the directory instead. E17 is quite usable, I find it useful. People have this stereotype about e17 because there hasn't been any perfect E17 distros and thats what Maryan is aiming for, elive put me of for a little while until I had the guts to try OpenGEU .
Its the developers first time making an e17 distro and I'm quite impressed for it being his first time. E17 is the hardest DE to work with when developing a distro, thats why there aren't many distros and also because of that stereotype. I'll make another announcement on this thread once the beta 2 is comes out. Hope you can help us out later on, you seem to be very good with testing

Re: Maryan Linux
I have try maryanlinux Beta 1 since saturday and I try it also today. There are some little bugs in there, but nothing, which went down your system. I have no crash until now.
Installation:
1. Left clic, Applications, Accesories, Thunar
2. Now, go the desktop
3. Double Clic on Ubiquity icon (Maryan logo)
4. Follow the steps that are required
There is a lot of cooperation on https://launchpad.net/maryan-linux/ to fix the bugs.
But, it is more stable as the gOS 2.0 beta, which crash on my computer. But this all are personal impressions.
