I can't find libGL.so

Postby asmaamagdi on Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:48 pm

Hello,

Firstly, excuse me if this question was already answered somewhere. I searched the forums but didn't find a match for my question.

I can't seem to install OpenGL libraries correctly. I searched the Software Manager for "mesa" and tried to install everything I found relevant but at no time I could find the libGL.so.

I use Mint 12 Lisa.
I tried to install:
libgl1-mesa-(dev, dri, dri-dbg, dri-experimental, dri-experimental-dbg, glx, glx-dbg, swx11, swx11-dbg, swx11-dev)
libglapi-mesa, libglapi-mesa-dbg
libglu1-mesa, libglu1-mesa-dev
libglw1-mesa, libglw1-mesa-dev
mesa-common-dev
mesa-utils, mesa-utils-extra

I have no experience in OpenGL development on Linux. I don't know what I'm missing here.

Thanks a lot in advance,
asmaamagdi

Although I've been actively searching online for about 2 days, I only found the solution few minutes just after posting :). The libGL.so library is in "/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu" and not in "usr/lib" as I assumed at first.

I found it using "locate libGL".
