linux mint 11 gnome hangs with 100%

i just did a standard install from live cd and i use the gnome session

You can't have gnome-shell on the normal Mint 11.

Please post the output of:

i have given up on mint for now im playing with opensuse for a while i have a feeling i may go back to the familiar territory of deb packages


p.s. how is SolusOS treating you im interested in tying it out

any one have a fix or an idea on how to fix this problem i have been looking for a long time and its really bothering me

Try selecting Gnome (failsafe mode) at login. This disables Compiz, which appears to be the cause of many problems.
