Running Mint-12 with Chromium, I select Menu --> and look for the Places option to open folders. Sometimes it is visible. Other times it is missing.
I can right-click the panel button and open Edit Menu, but there is no "Places" item to add or configure. The menu does include a Files item that will open $HOME, but I really enjoy the "Places" implementation.
Places, when selected, shows a list of several folders on the right side of the menu "window" (I'm not sure what this space is called with Cinnamon.) Choose a folder
and you get a file manager window into that space.
Can someone (1)explain what is going on with "Places", and (2) tell me how to keep "Places" a visible choice of menu options?
Thanks in advance,
