Need help installaing Mupen64 Plus

I'm having trouble installing Mupen64 Plus. I install it either using Synaptic or dpkg and it installs OK, but a shortcut is not installed and when I run it on terminal I get this:

Mupen64Plus Console User-Interface Version 1.99.4

UI-console: attached to core library 'Mupen64Plus Core' version 1.99.4
Includes support for Dynamic Recompiler.
Error: no ROM filepath given

I've tried providing a path to a ROM, but it doesn't work either. Even if it did I'd still need the gui.

I'm using LMDE (update pack 3) 32 bit.
