[Solved] Problems with Menu

Postby Clawinus on Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:17 pm

I am trying to learn how to work the menu
and have some problems.
I have Linux Mint Lisa 12 32 installed.
As two examples I quote from the Mint Guide page 32:

Launch applications automatically when you log in
You can right-click on any application in the menu and select “Launch when I log in”.
The application will then be launched automatically each time after you log in. This can
be disabled by following the same procedure again.

Change the appearance of the menu
You can customize the menu in many ways.
Right click on “Menu” and select “Preferences”.

In the first case nothing happens when I right-click an application
In the second case right clicking on menu produces a table of applications by category

What do I need to execute those function?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I just had the same problem as you. Here is what I did.

For adding things to launch automaticaly at start up,

Menu/other/startup applications, click add.

To add things to the 'favorites' part of the menu (the list of things on the left when you open the menu).

Click the little sideways S in the upper left corner of your screen. You should see 2 items, 'windows' and 'applications'. click on applications and right click on whatever app you want to add to favorites. Click on 'add to favorites' and that will show up in the left collum when you open the menu.

Note: you can also remove unwanted default items from favorites the same way. In applications, right click on unwanted apps in left collum an click 'remove from favorites'.

Hope this helped a little. :)

That guide is for a previous version of mint, there have been many changes in Lisa.
[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.
