I apologize if this has been asked or explained before. Honestly, I am probably not advanced enough to be running linux because I have a very hard time understanding all the commands and codes and such. Hopefully someone who is much better at this can simplify this for me. I'm running Linux Mint 11 LXDE
My issue is, I have my desktop set up where I need it to be wireless. I was using a Belkin Wireless G USB adapter and it was working fine, but it is pretty slow. 54 mbps.
So I did a little searching online, bought a different belkin N+ adapter because that is what my router is, and turned out, I couldn't get it to work. So I sold it, and bought a D-Link DWA 140 because I read on here somewhere that it works right out of the box. However, that wasn't the case. I managed to search and find this thread below which I followed the directions written by TBABill on the first page. Now the adapter is working, but it is only at 48 mbps. Not even as fast as my wireless G adapter.

At the end of the thread, it mentions how the guy got upwards of 100 mbps but linked to this thread below, which I can't understand for the life of me. What do I need to do to get wireless N speeds?

I'm really sorry if the answer is right in front of me and I have no clue. I appreciate any help anyone can give a newbie who has no real business working on something this advanced.
