Hi,
I have just got a new Acer laptop. Like all new laptops that have nVidia cards, these are addin cards (like in the old days of 3D cards) and come into use when needed. The problem is that under Linux these cards are not visible so even if the correct drivers are forceably installed, they do not recognise the card.
In my case, it also broke Cinnamon so that the normal Gnome desktop booted even though the former was selected. I was installing Linux Mint 12 Gnome.
My Laptop has an Intel HD 3000 cards and an nVidia 630M Optimus addin card.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
DrT
