XFCE desktop disappears then acts like gnome desktop?!

Postby tedbell on Wed May 02, 2012 1:10 am

It sounds wierd but here's my problem:

When I log into an XFCE session I can see the original desktop with the XFCE wallpaper and the icons including the trash bin and drives auto-mounted. Ten after a few seconds when the OS loads completely it goes into another wall paper (and it has the GNOME desktop setting panel with only linux mint wallpapers and no xfce wallpapers, the XFCE desktop settings panel changes nothing) the icons disappear except for home and computer, the trash bin is gone and the drives no longer auto-mount. The task bar and 'startmenu' are all XFCE.Everything else is fine except for that. I've tried uninstalling GNOME, reinstalling XFCE. Nothing works. Any ideas on how to get the XFCE desktop to stay? Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
