Hi there Quinn. Hope you have fun and learn what you can from the forum. I'm fairly new to linux myself.
I just finished up a college course on linux and it was fun. Theres still a lot I have to learn and practice at, but I learned it enough
to adopt using it on both of my laptops and my desktop pc. Wish I could have got started at 13 like you.
My class was instructed using Fedora 13. Throughout the semester I got used to that from using it
at school and I had fedora 16 on my desktop pc at home. I dual boot ubuntu 12.04 lts and osx lion 10.7.3 on my mbp 13' and also dual boot windows 7/mint 12 lisa on my sony vaio dual core 1.8 ghz, 150 gb hdd, 2gb ram.
By the end of the semester I kept everything the same but I kind of wanted my desktop to look mac like. Thought it would be kind of cool. I seen that mac osx navigator you can get through the software manager for mint, but in the end I wanted to flip it up a bit, and being adventurous and liking to try things new I ended up trying that PearOS/Comice 4
http://pear-os-linux.fr/ on my desktop and I really like it.
I like how the dock is on that and when you scroll from app/icon to app/icon it gets bigger according to each icon your on. Seems smooth and real fast. I don't notice any lag in the action from the dock. Everything else seems fine too. I upgraded from kernel 3.0 to 3.2 and I think I'll leave it where its at from the time being. Have fun with linux and if you have questions I'm sure some of the knowledgeable people here can help you out.
