Mint 12 Installer freezing?

Postby FrogDemon on Fri Apr 27, 2012 12:22 pm

Ok, well I decided to install Mint 12 anyways, even though I didn’t want a *buntu based distro. I have been sitting on the LiveDVD for about 50mins now, waiting for it to install and the installer seems stuck. Is this a normal time span for installing Mint 12?

Installer stays at Configuring Target System...

I had other issues regarding LMDE and decided to install Mint 12. LMDE issues are posted all over the blog and decided to bring this issue here and there. So please help. This is my only system and I need it up and running.

dmesg on LiveDVD while installing:

Tell your specs man, before asking a question.
The problem could be related to graphics card, motherboard, other devices.

Open up a terminal and paste this in: inxi -F
Paste the contents so we can see.

I finally gave up on installing and fixed the Win7 boot. Had to reload the Live DVD to get these results.

Figured out the issue, I think. I had to go into bios and disable USB 3.0. I don’t need it anyways. Don’t have any 3.0 devices. Now every thing seems fine.

LMDE loaded up fine. Tried loading up Ubuntu 12.04 but it only loads to a blinking cursor.

I still do not understand confused is going on though or why disabling the 3.0 USB ports would allow LMDE to load.

The optical devices can be a bit temperamental. Have you tried a USB-stick?

Ok, I found my issue and other ppl's issue with getting these newer images to load. It's the new Debian kernel. Not exactly sure what in the kernel is causing the problem. But older kernels work better, at least on AMD systems.

I'm thinking it could be the new UEFI bios. But am not totally sure.

I did finally get the LiveDVD to load for me. Had to mark noacpi, nomodeset and one other, can't remember. But even doing that, the installer freezes. Left it going all night and when I got up this morning at 0400, it was still stuck. I did a hard shutdown and I just reinstalled Win7 and here I am. The reason is that my mobo doesn't have an onboard graphics card and the OS searches for it and when it doesn't find one it stops.

I'd say your patience is a bit above the general user.

I haven't got any ideas on installing but can't you try another buntu while the team works on Mint13?
Xubuntu or Kubuntu?

Patience? I'm at the end of that now. LMAO! But, anyways, the only distro that loads up fine right now is 10.04. Not even the 10.04.4 will load. I could go that route for now.
