thunderbird 11.0.1 & mint 11 (address/subject panel)

Postby a_hippie on Thu Apr 26, 2012 10:13 pm

This is odd. Yesterday Mint update went off and I got a new thunderbird--I killed thunderbird before starting the update. All went swimmingly and I restarted thunderbird.

This is weird, now thunderbird is showing ALL ADDRESSES/MAILTO/LISTPOST blah blaaah stuff in the TO/FROM/SUBJECT area--so now I only get a tiny pane to read the actual message. I'm stumped, why is it showing all this detail--it never did this before the *upgrade*. I've googled a few times and haven't yet found anything relevant regarding this PITA situation.

Am I the only one getting this problem with thunderbird? Does anyone else subscribe to email lists with thunderbird?

I can't find any way to resize or shut off this undesired detail. I've uploaded a screen shot too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Regards,

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I received another thunderchicken update and it seems to have gotten worse trying to read the actual email. I searched the add-on section of Mozilla and found two add-ons that helped (a lot!). I guess the hackers of thunderchicken are removing the ability to customise the reader at each release cycle. shrug. So here are two add-ons you may want to investigate if you subscribe to email lists like I do:

Toggle Headers 0.3

CompactHeader 2.0.2

Obviously, the version numbers are subject to change but now I can actually read the messages and not have all the needless information taking up the screen.

I hope this helps other tb users . .

regards,
