A "Switch User" button when unlocking the screen. The lack of this is preventing me from switching to Cinnamon permanently.

Not more features, more stability. Clear bugs fast, or respond to bugs in Launchpad.
I do not need a fancy desktop with eye candy, just a solid one that works.
If you put in compiz, I will turn it off, as I have with all the 'effects'.

In general I agree with you. And I think Cinnamon strikes a really nice balance of aesthetics and functionality.

FWIW, I received an extremely terse response for bothering to report a Cinnamon bug on Launchpad. The 'correct' method is to report issues on GitHub: https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues?state=open

After opening a bug on GitHub someone going by the username "crossroadstech" was kind enough to investigate and provide a very simple fix within hours of me having raised the issue, so send bugs to GitHub - with my massive sample size of 1 at the very least people seem to be reading/monitoring bug reports that have been opened.

I'd like to be able to have a task bar (panel) on each of my two monitors.

I would like the ability to resize the bottom panel for better visibility on a large screen. The default panel size is just too small for tired old eyes like mine. With Gnome2 I always resized the panel to at least 36 pixels. Otherwise Cinnamon is a worthy replacement for Gnome and I like it fine. Thanks for all the hard work.

Audacious support (it supports MPRIS2) in the sound menu.

I would really appreciate that

Gaugamela wrote:One request it would be this right now. Quite simple:

- In the Cinnamon Settings - Themes --> Other Settings there should be a preview of how changing the different themes will change the look of the Windows, Icons, GTK+, etc with at least a screenshot of the new look. To see how changing themes impacts the looks of the system it is really annoying to have to log out every. single. time!

Gaugamela, You can do that now. just hit alt + F2 when the box pops up, just type "r" in the box. It will restart the gnome shell, so you can see what the new theme looks like, without losing what you are working on.

While I have voiced two specific wishes in a thread of my own, those are based on the assumption that I can actually *use* cinnamon.

I use it at work, where my secondary monitor is to the right of the primary one, which is no problem at all, and while my wishes that I alluded to are heartfelt and - to my mind - functionality that should be incorporated sooner rather than later, I do without for the time being.

At home, however, my secondary head is to the left, which has been reported elsewhere to be a no-go for cinnamon - even though reports also say that the problem isn't evident in regular GNOME3 - making it likely that this is a specific cinnamon bug.

Thus, my one request, wish, plea, what-have-you, would be to address that specific bug expediently, so that I can actually use the desktop environment that I am so fond of at work that I will be willing to overlook, for the moment, that it won't do what I ask for in that thread that I alluded to above.

My request would be to include tiling and stacking of open windows.

What ONE feature would I like to see in Cinnamon beyond v1.4?
Grouping ability in the panel with a pop-up balloon on hover listing the open window(s) similar to DockBarx and recent KDE versions (Win7 too).

Yes, this must be it, I"ll second this!

Just took linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-64bit & linuxmint-13-mate-dvd-64bit for a try.. on my desktop PCs Cinnamon is undoubtedly the better choice between the two.

Some basic gridding like in the compiz grid plugin, i.e.

placing windows by hotkey (left/right sides, corners, top/bottom half)
dragging windows not only to the sides but also to the corners.

Tyvm!

Easy for me:

Compiz Enhanced Desktop Zoom style support, including the mouse-wheel zoom, built in and enabled by default, just like it was in Mint 10 and Ubuntu 10.10.

I like getting access to menu by hover, hotspot like in gnome 3, not having to click to see menu, just hover...
saving clicks leads to relaxation...
a hotspot revealing Favorites Menu, thats what i like...

The two things I'd miss would be Compiz
Enhanced Zoom Desktop - for smoothly zooming in and out with mouse wheel
ADD helper - which dims all but the active window.
Mint10 runs so well on my PCs, that despite of all the new features and improvements in Cinnamon, I have hard time thinking about upgrade. :D

I would want the old mint 11 menu to be implemented in cinnamon by default. :) Its currently known as classic menu, but it is only installable through the CInnamon Extras PPA.

 YES!!!! Of all the features in Compiz..I really enjoy this one the most! I've talked to other people who agree that this is the best zoom feature they have seen in a desktop environment. I personally think all versions of Linux should have this and it should work the same in all of them. I love the zooming in and out and the fact that the window follows the mouse as one reads along...Very nice indeed.

Whenever I try a live disk of Linux,I'll find myself pressing the super key and scroll on the mouse and being perplexed for a split second that nothing is happening I'm so used to using this delightful feature.
Anyway, that being said, adding this feature would just be fantastic!
And the little fireball that follows the mouse..Yeah,I really like that as well.

My biggest wish: make LM work out of the box again!

That means less is more in sound, multimedia, eye candy.

Have a working base install and all the additional programs in the software manager/repositories.
This way, one can identify the source of problems much easier.
To identify for example the troublemaker of sound problems, which sadly returned, now one has to check alsa, pulseaudio, totem, mplayer, gstreamer, (flashplugin, skype), mono, banshee, notifications, ....

Thanks for putting out what is for me the best distro!
