(SOLVED) Download issue

Post by colyn »

I installed the latest version of LMDE with Mate/Cinnamon with no problems today. However I am unable to update or download new packages from either synaptic or software manager.

I am able to connect to the internet though so connection issues don't seem to be the problem.

Below is the results of

Code: Select all

inxi -Sr
and

Code: Select all

apt update && apt dist-upgrade

Code: Select all

colyn@colyng ~ $ inxi -Sr

tho i can not help you directly (for lack of knowledge) i would investigate:
- proxies http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=185&t=85193
- dns http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=198&t=99685
- eventually firewall settings
(but i don't believe so much in this last one, i put my money in one of the 2 first options)

I'm not using a proxy and I have tried the dns assigned by my router as well as open dns with no luck.

I'm not using the software firewall but my router is firewall enabled. Should I open a port in it and if so which one?

have you tried ping and traceroute to debian.linuxmint.com, to see if you successfully 'connected' to the repos?

I think I need to go back to school...I forgot to put a comma and space between the primary and secondary dns. Once done it is working fine now...
