Installing Extensions in Cinnamon LM12

I'm still something of a newbie so though I think I've followed all of the steps I could have missed doing something fundamental. I'm trying to install the Coverflow Alt tab in Cinnamon. Having downloaded the package I can't seem to make it connect w/ user etc as per instructions on website.
Also something unrelated if I may . The scanner for my computer is a HP and seems to work well in Windows but takes perhaps 10 times as long to scan the same document in LM Any Ideas?

If you have trouble installing the applet, consider using bimsebasse's Cinnamon Extras PPA: viewtopic.php?f=208&t=98316. This automatically installs a bunch of applets, themes and extensions for you.

As for the printer problems, suggest you post a separate topic in viewforum.php?f=51 for that. Please include the exact model of the printer, and how you are connecting to it (directly through USB for example, or if it is a network printer).
