[solved]Screen flickers and taskbars disappear

Postby messy on Mon May 07, 2012 7:28 am

Hi,

it is hard for me to describe this problem, but i give my best. Sometimes the screen flickers suddenly. To be exact the taskbars (top and bottom) disappear a short time. Sometimes they don't appear again and I must restart my system.
I use a 64-bit-version of Linux Mint on my Sub-notebook (lenovo s205). It has a AMD Radeon HD 6310M. Has anyone an idea what this could be?

Its a bug, there is some kind of conflict between gnome thre and the ati drivers, not sure how to over come it, except install another desktop.

lol you can still have linux mint,
you may try downloading the latest drivers from ati's site they might've fixed this bug.
I did mean install another distro, I mean install kde, or lxde alongside gnome.
there both available through the software manager.

Ah! Okay :D It looks that I have missunderstood you. ;)
I have already the newest driver, but I reinstall this. Maybe I made a mistake.
And what are the differences between kde, lxde and gnome? And how I know whether I should use kde or lxde?

Edit: Ah! It gives a new version of ATI driver. I will check it.

If the problem continues to persist, even after you install the latest ATI driver, try switching to the MATE desktop. I was having the same type of issues and have not had this problem after switching to MATE. Good luck!
