Lingering Linux Mint boot options

Postby sonicjms on Tue May 15, 2012 5:16 pm

I don't know if this belongs here but........
I installed Linux mint a while ago on my windows 7 (dual boot option) and then formatted my drive, I then installed Windows 8 Dev preview and Linux mint again. I then formatted my drive again (all the partitions) now I have windows 7 back but on the windows boot launcher there are 2 unusable Linux mint options. Please help me get rid of these. By the way I'm a bit of a noob so a step by step explanation would be nice.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

hi sonicjms, well there's two ways to do this. One way is to edit the windows bootloader - so you'd be better off posting the question on a windows forum. The other way is to put the linux bootloader on the master boot record. That will probe for all existing operating systems and give you a start up screen for which OS you want to use. See this recent post - viewtopic.php?f=46&t=102097

hope this helps

I don't have linux anymore so it sounds liike the second option is out of the question, also when I went to msconfig the linux options didn't show up so that may not help either.
