Quick Search box in Synaptic

Post by hosios »

Hi,

I use Synaptic Package manager all the time, and prefer that over the Software Center (not even installed now). There is nothing wrong with the later, but its probably a personal preference.
One feature I really miss though is a clear button on the quick search box. I think it is easy for you guys, and would turn my life a lot easier.

Thanks for your attention

Great distro by the way. Using Linux from 2007, and besides the first year with Mandriva, and after trying some others, I am Linux Mint all the way. (currently using LMDE)

It automatically searches as you stop typing, there is no need for a button per se.

The Linux Mint developers don't develop or maintain Synaptic, it has its own development team: http://www.nongnu.org/synaptic/index.html They don't have a forum, but do have a development mailing list: https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listin ... ptic-devel

I also like the Quick filter box and was missing it. I went to Preferences > Appearance and changed the theme to Mint-Z and controls to Clearlooks. Now Synaptic's "Quick filter" box shows up like it used to.
