Changing the default icons for file types [SOLVED]
This sounds a really basic question, but how can you change the icon displayed for a given file type?

It depends on which desktop you are running but in general is a theme issue.

I'm running LXDE with Openbox and I'm using Onyx Theme, Clearlooks widgets with a Faience icon set.
Want to now if an individual class of file types can be assigned to display an alternate icon. Where is the assignment made?

Well I solved what I was ultimately trying to achieve but I didn't get my question answered with respect to changing the icon associated with a file(mime-)type.
My issue was due to an incomplete icon set.
