Upgraded to Mint 13 MATE now YouTube Videos crash my system

Postby gael33 on Sun May 27, 2012 12:37 pm

I recently upgraded from Mint 12 Lisa to Mint 13 Maya (MATE) and now YouTube Video's crash my system, why is that? What has changed in Mint 13 that could do this?

Apart from the above, Linux Mint 13 MATE is beautiful and a delight to use.

Thanks, gael.

Probably old browser settings are the reason. Depending on browser, you could rename ex browser settings-folder and try to watch again with fresh settings.

For example Firefox: mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.old

That cannot be the reason because I clean installed Linux Mint 13 MATE which means there is no old folder ... is there any other suggestions you could give me?

I'm using Flash 11.2, Chromium Browser, and yes I am on the html5 beta test.

Well, I think I found the problem. My last OS was 32 bit and I've now changed to 64 bit. Most things worked within acceptable parameters on the 32 bit system, so I started to narrow down what the common denominator could possibly be. The conclusion was that my Chromium Browser was the link between my computer and Youtube, so I changed the Browser to Chrome 64 bit and the problem appears to be fixed.
