Mint 13 both version does not play any DVX movies online

Hi!

I did give a try to both version of Linux Mint 13, very nice!

But, once by a web page where it possible to watch movies, it's not possible to see any DVX/avi movie.

Bottom bar shows the volume on mute and the play bar is full but nothing movie.

Because I just try Mint 13 without installing, I am wondering if once I installed thanks the updating would be possible to play DVX movies online.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

My compliments for this beauty! I just installed Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon version and i did try the Mate as well.

Both, does not play any online DivX movies!

Did you install the version with codecs or without? try running

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Note: Installation only works completely and properly when done from the command-line Terminal. The entire package will not usually install completely from within a Package Manager.

Both are without codecs, I do love both Mate and Cinnamon, where I can find the 2 with codecs?

If I understood correctly, if I do have the one without codecs it will be OK if I run the SUDO as you suggested, am I right?

Actually run this instead

sudo apt-get install mint-meta-codecs

and it should be fixed

install mozilla-plugin-vlc via synaptic. when you see the vlc icon in the video window of yr browser, right-click it and hit "play". it only works in firefox and maybe opera browsers.

I'm having a similar problem after upgrading to Mint 13 Mate from Mint 11 Gnome. No matter what player I use, none of my videos play although I do hear the audio track. On line videos work just fine and I have downloaded all of the codecs.
