Windows failed, Linux prevailed
I spent an hour trying to format an external hard drive to fat32 in windows 7. Write protection kept denying rights, even after trying registry tweaks and changing permissions.
Hop on linux mint, open up gparted, format fat32, done. Don't ask why I didn't just use Linux in the first place, its a long story. Thank you Linux Mint .

Re: Windows failed, Linux prevailed
I've had to do that a few times. Linux seems to make every task much easier.
Re: Windows failed, Linux prevailed
I gave up on Windows eight years ago and never looked back.
Think of Windows 10 as Hotel California for computers.

I still have Windows 7 in a virtual machine in case I ever need it. So far, I've never actually needed it.Goz wrote:I gave up on Windows eight years ago and never looked back.

While I don't know about how easy Webcams are to set up, but I would definitely argue your other point. I haven't haven't have any trouble getting my network functioning in Linux using Samba - in fact, all I have to do is share the folders and apply the permissions, Samba does everything else./dev/urandom wrote:(Also: No, setting up WLAN and Webcam hardware is mostly easier on Windows.)
I would have to agree with the majority here, too - at least 90% of all tasks are easier in Linux. I'm dual booting with Window$ 7 at the moment, but as soon as all the firmware updates are out for my 3 month old machine (I imagine in no longer than a couple of years), I will be kicking Window$ off for good, and Gates will be a sad rainbow butterfly .

"WIndow$". How dare they want to make money!RobertLM78 wrote:I will be kicking Window$ off for good, and Gates will be a sad rainbow butterfly .

Nothing wrong with making money, it's the way they do it which is so utterly repugnant./dev/urandom wrote:How dare they want to make money!

Attaching price tags to software boxes is so repugnant!

Not just that, the way they conduct their business is shameful.
But it's an old topic and tbh one that I'm really tired of, goodness knows why I'm even posting this, I really should sto

Google and Facebook do not conduct it better, do they? And still ...
