Messed up graphics after install/grub

Hello everyone,

I recently installed linux mint 13, i had to do this trough compatibility mode becouse otherwhise the screen would go black.
Now after a sucessfull install the screen gets stripes in all diffrent collors.
I think it has something to do with an unsuported graphic mode its trying to boot in.

Could anyone point me into the right direction to solve this?

what kind of graphics card or chipset do you have?

The chipset is z68 and graphics is geforce gtx560ti with 448 cores.

have you tried installing your nvidia-drivers? if not try doing
