LMDE: No updates for at least a month

Post by srs5694 »

Some time ago (May 1, at the latest), I installed LMDE on my laptop. Since then, I've gotten no updated software, even after doing "apt-get update" followed by "apt-get upgrade". (The GUI Update Manager and Synaptic tools also show no updates available.) I'm no newbie; I've been using Debian, Ubuntu, and other Debian-based systems for over a decade, so I know my way around these tools. I'm just wondering if such a slow pace of change in the repositories is normal for LMDE or if there's something wrong with my system, such as a missing critical entry in my /etc/apt/sources.list file, shown here:

Code: Select all

deb http://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/linuxmint-packages/ debian main upstream import
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/multimedia testing main non-free
Thanks for any information.

I'm curious what's happening with the development of LMDE though. Both of those posts, explaining update packs, state that there will be monthly updates to LMDE. But as the OP points out, it's been more than a month (more like two months) since the last update pack was in testing/incoming. Is the update pack system working as intended?

I have been wondering when I'd be getting Firefox 13. Good to know about the packages not coming out recently, but I'm still confused, because I followed the "We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)" directions and I still haven't seen any updates recently.

My /etc/apt/sources.list if you're interested:

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import romeo backport
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming/multimedia testing main non-free
Edit: ZeroZero's solution here helped, but still no Firefox 13.

The incoming repo only gets active just before a new UP is planned. LMDE stays pretty static between UPs.
