Caja crashes upon opening remote terminal

I'm running Linux Mint 13 (64 bit) with Mate desktop, for which Caja is the default file browser.
When I connect to a remote server on Caja via sftp, and open a (remote) terminal there from the right-click menu, Caja crashes. This does not happen while browsing local folders though.
I initiated Caja from terminal and tried the same process to see if it gives any error message while crashing, and it does not.
So I have to use Nautilus now whenever I want to browse remote folders, which is fine, except that I have to launch it separately, because I can't have the system to use Nautilus as the default file browser (did it in the "Preferred applications" window, but doesn't take effect, so I guess I'm reporting two bugs!).
Any help you can provide with this will be very much appreciated.

I've checked the issues on GitHub, it isn't a known issue for MATE's File Manager: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-fi ... ger/issues Can anybody confirm the issue? Then the bug should go up there I think.

I can confirm this issue in Caja. If I browse remote folder and want to open remote terminal here, Caja crashes. I observed it in the last LMDE 64b, MAYA 32 and 64b too. If I open it in local terminal (GVFS folder), work fine.

Vincent, I can't find this bug posted on that github page you mentioned. Should I post it there?
Also, does either of you know of a way to effectively replace Caja with Nautilus? I use Nautilus for dropbox anyway, but can't get it to manage my desktop too.

I can confirm Caja crashing when trying to open a remote terminal as well, using MATE on Maya 64b. I'm not sure what is causing it, but you should probably post that bug. And as you mentioned, I would appreciate a way to completely replace Caja with something fully working too.
