Creating LMDE KDE

Post by hellfire695 »

I am not sure this is the proper forum.

I am currently working on creating a LMDE iso with kde as the desktop enviroment. I would like to empathize that this is not a official release.
I want to hear people's thoughts on what implentations should be made (such as defualts apps, themes, or artwork.)
I will repost on the forums and upload a copy when it is ready for beta testing.

If you have any question's, or would like to help please feel free to sent me a private message or post here.

I'm running KDE bolted on top of LMDE and some of the first packages I always install once I get KDE installed are Amarok, and Kid3 plus I look to install the KDE-GTK configuration panel (I'm having some problems getting it installed this time around so it may not be easily doable). I also add Stealth Cashew, AudioThumbs (to get cover art on audio files in Dolphin), Fortunoid (to have an alternate fortune plasmoid on my desktop) and the Photo of the Day plasmoid, but in each of those cases my usual plasmoids may not be others'.

I also get Bespin added but that probably isn't a popular package since I always have to build it from source. There actually aren't any packages built for it from what I can see and I wish I could give an assist to make it easier for folks to use.

ETA: I just remembered that when I had it installed on my 64-bit LMDE I had snagged the source from git off this site. I'm getting ready to make sure I have the latest files and try a build since I really miss being able to use it.

That's weird, I'm not seeing any Bespin in my repos. Which repo are you seeing those in Craig?

Ah, ok. I had a feeling that's where it was. I'm looking at making the move but I want to make sure I set things correctly before I pull the trigger.

Thanks Vincent. When I went to ask my question the thread I was thinking of using (on adding KDE 7.4 to LMDE) was closed so I wasn't sure where to ask it.
