[solved] dual monitors on mint 12-64

Postby beast on Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:55 am

I hooked up a second monitor and everything went well, until I started up DDO, my frame rate was stuck at 0.5 to 2.0 and the game was unplayable. when I disconnected the monitor the game played like normal. I'm guessing the root of the problem is the gpu. if I were to put in a bigger gpu like nVidia GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) would that solve the problem? would I beable to play the game on one screen and watch videos or tv input on the other? or at least be able to look up stuff on the internet? or am I missing something all together?

Did you install the nvidia graphics driver?

Please run this command in terminal and post the output:
Code: Select all
inxi -Gx
It should show some graphics driver data.

Please run sudo nvidia-xconfig in terminal. That may fix your problem.

How did you set up dual monitors? TwinView or Seperate X Screens?
The "Seperate X Screens" option has no 3D acceleration. You need TwinView if you want to be able to play any game that requires 3D.
