Mint locks up when hibernating and Mint on battery

Post by Yoshi2889 »

Hi!

I got rid of Windows 7 on my laptop (ASUS K53E) and installed Mint 13 Cinnamon 64-bit. W7 was giving me BSODs which mint obviously can't give.

So I was in mind, wanted to resume my work somewhere later on, closed the lid. So left the thing on our table, came back somewhere later on, and found that it was still on. Opened it, on the screen was just a white _, nothing else. My HDD activity light was on full-time. Couldn't get it to turn back to the desktop so I was forced to shut it down.

Okay so I googled. Only thing I could possibly find is that my graphics card drivers suck. Here's some information about my system:

Code: Select all

I have Intel HD Graphics 3000, the info Inxi gives about my graphics is vague.

Is something wrong in my config or...?

Also, my battery is draining super fast, I charged it until just an hour or so ago, unplugged it and I've been using it for like 30 minutes now, and the battery is already on 89% (from 99%), on the lowest brightness. In Windows, a tool called Power4Gear managed my processor speed and voltage stuff so when I was on my battery it underclocked the thing to 800 MHz. Is a tool like that available for Mint? And if not, any tips to save battery?

Thanks!

Sorry but I'm going to bump this, I need this fixed as I use hibernation quite a lot.
