Installer errors Linux Mint 13 Mate edition

During the installation of Linux Mint 13 Mate edition I experienced these two bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/989968 & https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/976027:
Installer error: Unable to create '/root/cache/dconf'; dconf will not work properly.
executing 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed. This is a fatal error.

I tried removing package ubiquity-slideshow-mint but that didn't fix anything.

Extraordinary that it's now Feb. 9, 2013 and nothing's been done about this. I wanted to use the LTE Mint 13 but was unable to install, as upon displaying this error the install hangs. Has anybody been able to install Mint 13?

This works, but the slide show during install is disabled and the detail under copying files may show in a tiny, non-resizeable window. Sheesh. But it seems to work. Your experience may differ. Very strange indeed that this bug continues apparently unresolved to this day. Good luck.
