1. If the CD only burns at 10x and corrupts the image and you can't do anything about it, then that's that...no point crying over it. Time for another approach.

3. If you're too lazy for Linux, if you don't want to work at it, and if you don't face your commandline fears, you can't get anywhere. Besides, cmd gets easier soon enough.
4. ALTERNATIVE: If you still have a copy of Linux Mint disk somewhere, you can boot into it, open up GParted, then make a small partition on the harddrive for a "frugal" install for Puppy Linux (using Unetbootin). There's plenty of information online for frugal installs; look it up.
