Whenever I play audio from any player (Banshee, Rhythmbox, VLC) I can't do anything like browsing the web, playing a little game or working on documents without hearing this crackling sounds. To define the sound a little bit better... It seems that it slows a bit down but wants to keep up with the normal speed.
This about describes the audio setup of my computer.
Code: Select all
Audio: Card-1: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Redwood HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5000 Series] driver: snd_hda_intel
Card-2: C-Media CM8738 driver: snd_cmipci
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture ver: 1.0.24
EDIT June 12th: in a Launchpad reported bug (#345627) one sentence desribes pretty good what I think is the cause: These anomalies are due to buffering and clock adjustment calculations that incorrectly assume that the underlying hardware is well-behaved (source: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/345627). This Launchpad bug should be solved by Ubuntu Jaunty Jeopard. But it is has gotten worse since I switched from Linux Mint 12 32bit to Linux Mint 13 64bit. Although some other, larger, issues solved by switching to the new Linux Mint/MATE, I'm not going back.
Is this a buffering problem? If yes, how can I increase this "buffer"?
Is my system perhaps not "suited" for a 64 bit version of Linux?
