[SOLVED] where to post feedback about Mint forum site itself

Post by SaintDanBert »

I'm new to forums.linuxmint.com. Where do I post questions and comments about the site itself and how things work here?

For example, the edit window that I'm currently using has a row of tool buttons. One says "font colour".
I've tried to use that and I get hex-code stuff into my posting, but the tag does not seem to get processed.
Is this something I need to enable somewhere? If so , where?

Also, I've posted into existing threads but then I cannot seem to find that posting with View-My-Posts.
I expected that I could sort the report by posting date -- ascending or descending -- or alpha by thread title.
I don't find a way to sort and next-page, ... browsing is a real pain.

In general, I enjoy this site and its springenwerks.

I think you can use the "Non-technical questions" category: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewforum.php?f=6. If it is not appropriate a moderator will move the topic.

There probably ought to be a forum feedback section somewhere, but since I don't think there is I agree with AlbertP that this is probably the most logical place for this thread, so that is why I have put it here.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Color should work fine without additional steps. example
^Quote this post and you will see the correct usage.

Under "View my Posts", if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, centered, you will find options for sorting the threads.

You can also see your individual posts, instead of whole threads you have posted in, within User Control Panel -> Overview -> There is a link to "Show your Posts" beside the total posts heading.

Text becomes red when you type it between the opening and closing tag:

Code: Select all

[color=#FF0000]red[/color]
You can also select text, and then press the colour button.

This text should be orange something.
Question -- Does this mean that I must use hex and cannot use name strings like "dark blue" and such.

... and so it is in the Preview ...

Thanks for these answers. Most often I use the tool button for "font colour".

Cheers,

Look at this thread.
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 42#p590142

Notice that the color effort does not work. What am I missing about whatever is going wrong.

The orange text looks well. You can use hex and you can click a colour. As far as I know names aren't supported.

It also seems that the tags do not work inside a code block. Some other similar forums, notably LinuxQuestions.com, parse the code blocks for BBcode tags. That is nice when you want to draw attention to something inside a fragment of code or log file.

Thanks for all the helpful comments,

You can use a code block to give an example of how people should use tags (and, on Linux forums, they're also useful for terminal commands). I did that to show how the red colour worked for example.
