5.1 channel trouble

Postby newn on Tue Jul 03, 2012 12:10 pm

I use Roccat Kave headset and Creative Xtreme Gamer sound card. On Mint, even though I've set 5.1 channels, I can't hear any sound (in testing window as well) from the Subwoofer and the center speakers. On Windows, however, it works perfectly.

What might be the problem?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Right click the cound icon in the panel, select Sound Preferences

Then pick the hardware tab and select the appropriate output in the profile window.
Desktop:
Mint 14.1 64 bit with Mate
Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H
AMD Athlon II X3 425
CORSAIR 4GB DDR2 800
640GB HDD WD Black 7200rpm

Laptop:
Acer Aspire AS5552-5898
Mint 14.1 64 bit with Mate
AMD Phenom II Triple-Core N830
4GB Memory DDR3
500GB HDD 5400rpm

Yea, that's where I've set 5.1 configuration. Since it didn't work, I've created this post.

P.S. Using x64 Mint 13 Cinnamon with default codecs and no audio drivers (no Linux version).

Did you test the other variations offered? While we're at it did you check for additional hardware drivers?

Ah, made it work by choosing another variation of 5.1.
