Working on a Dell

Postby gwatson117 on Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:08 pm

Okay, I am not that technically savvy. Well, when I had Ubuntu loaded on my Dell laptop, I wasn't able to use my wireless card. And I am wanting to load Mint 13 on my computer but I do not want to worry about software working with hardware. When I load Mint, will I have to worry about this?

???

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There's not much to say since you provide no specifics on your wireless card.

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu therefore I imagine your wireless card should work the same.

Hello gwatson117,
You can always try booting off a live CD to see if Linux Mint 13 supports your Dell wireless card. When I first got my inspiron 1720, using the wireless would cause a kernel panic. Now, 4 years later, it works flawlessly with the Linux Mint 13 I installed on it. If you tell us the model number/name of your Dell device, we can help you, but it would be even better if you mentioned the actual wireless card it uses.
Thank you.

Hello gwatson117,

I have a Dell XPS, Dell 6400 Inspiron and a Dell 1505 Inspiron, works fine with Debian, Ubuntu and Mint, no problems at all.
