Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
When do you reckon we'll be able to download it?
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
That's great news, when will it be available on heanet?
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/linuxmint.com/testing/
still nothing here but it will soon, usually one two days delay

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Sweeet! I may turn my Mint 10 KDE flash drive into a Maya KDE drive for a bit and check it out, although I'll probably go back to the older version since I need it to access my external hard drive since as of the last time I checked (last week) LMDE + KDE can't read the drive. (I know it's a kernel issue and I need to look into it more, but that's a task for another thread.)
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Installed! And updating.
I broke GRUB in the process (entirely my fault) but fixed now
Looking good so far

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
I now have it installed and configured to my preference. From what I see in this short time, I believe this is going to turn out to be the best Mint KDE release ever.
Mint Cinnamon 20.1
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Very impressed with KDE 4.8.4 (coming from 4.4ish it is a huge improvement).

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Looks great, zero. Too bad it's built on Ubuntu.
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
It's working very well. Much improved over LM 12 KDE, it seems to me.
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Sweet nannutaki gods!! At least!! I'll try the 32bits later, I hope this make me switch back to mint since I'm running netrunner mainly
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
runs great so far and the software mannager seems to be fixed ala kde 12
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
A question. What if a person installed the system from the testing iso a few hours before the RC came out, by mistake?
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Installed, seems to work fine (but it didnt install grub, i had to do it after...).
Installation of Nvidia Drivers : Ok
Upgrade after installation : 230 mo (including Kde 4.8.4 !). Ok
It is working reliably so far (no weird freeze like cinnamon...).
I've found a bug in KDE wallpaper setting (don't click ok after apply otherwise you'll loose the setting).
I also found a upstream bug about network printing with my Samsung printer. after some research the culprit is Cups 1.5.2 (which mishandles IPP functions on many printers Canon, Brother and Samsung mostly).
Till Kamppeter fixed the issue in cups 1.5.3 but it is not yet available upstream.
1) Update from his ppa (below)
Through the web interface (localhost:631) :
2) Delete previous printers
3) install the printer
Here the sources :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/992982
https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa
NB : another odd thing coming from Upstream, if the sound is is garbled in wine apps, just install ia32-libs-multiarch (even on 32bits systems)

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Downloading now..
I hope it will play nice with my wireless, because Kubuntu 12.04 doesn't
Kubuntu 12.04 on my Asus 1215B (with Broadcom BCM4313) refuse to connect to some AP (and my katya can always connect to that AP).
Its annoying to do "apt-get upgrade" on that Kubuntu, because I have to boot the Kubuntu, do the "apt-get upgrade", copy the error (containing the package url) on a file, reboot to katya, download the package on that file, reboot to kubuntu, copy to /var/cache/apt/archive/, and finally i can upgrade that system.. sigh..

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
Good news, for all of us LMDE lovers who prefer to use a more Kool DE. Schoelje has come up with the Unofficial LMDE KDE Live DVD, which is now in a final UP4 version. You can snag an ISO and get more info at http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 6&p=600176LMDEFan1 wrote:Working really well from a flash drive. Haven't found any problems yet. Looks like I'll be upgrading to Mint 13 KDE in a few days.
I really like all the Minty features and configuration that the Mint folks add. Really polishes up their distributions. Mint distros are definitely the way to go. I've done lots of distro surfing while waiting for this Mint KDE version and none of them look and feel as polished and professional as the Mint distros do, regardless of which desktop you choose.
I'd really like to see a Mint LMDE KDE distribution. I'm a bit worried about the future of Ubuntu based distros with their course change to attract phone and tablet users.
Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release
I just switched to Linux Mint KDE 13 after having a horrid experience with OpenSuse and so far the experience has been stellar. Anyway, the only problem I've come across so far is the Device Notifier->Device Notifier Settings-> Removable Devices won't save the setting Enable automatic mounting of removable media. I'm guessing a permissions problem somewhere maybe but I don't really know where to look.
