Cinnamon. Can it be "scripted" ?

Post by catalin »

I have a netbook, and I try to use the track pad as less as I can, so I work a lot with console tools/programs and keyboard shortcuts. Does cinnamon have a way to receive console commands?
What I'm trying to do? : I also have a limited space because of the little monitor, so I have set the bar to auto-hide, but I want to keybind the option to activate/deactivate the "auto-hide bar" option so I can see information like time and battery and then set it back to auto-hide. Is there a way to do this?

Hello,

i don't know Cinnamon because i am not using it, but you can check if it exposes some functionality on the D-Bus. Use a D-Bus Examining Tool like 'd-feet' to inspect the Bus and 'dbus-send' to programmatically send messages to it.
