Laptop Buying Advice Battery Life

Post by alexk2444 »

Hi
I am looking to purchase I new laptop fairly soon and I plan to run Mint on it. I am looking for a laptop that will run Mint with at least 5 hours of battery life and am looking to spend $1000 or less. Does anyone have any ideas?

not so much a laptop, i have an acer aspire one net-book [special cheap edition for the British market] it came with one of the smallest versions of linux [puppy i think] the om battery lasted 2 hrs on the original os im currently using mint 11LXDE and it still last 2 hrs [not long enough] so i purchased a larger battery for £ 35 from Amazon [pattern part] it now last up to 9 hrs for normal e-mail and surfing and around 6 if i connect the external optical drive,

yes i know im rambling but my point is if you look at getting a lappy with an external battery you may be able to get a bigger one to boost its usage
