Getting Dial-up on Mint XFCE CE

Post by jbaerbock »

So I am using Mint XFCE CE (Cassandra) and am trying to figure out how to get Dial-up connection to work on it. I believe I have a Conexant Softmodem (laptop is an HP zv6000). Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Can you connect it to the internet?
Unfortunately old style dial up is not included on the Mint CD - will be in Elyssa
wvdial (spelling may be wrong) is there and you could install gnome-ppp
I know there are some differences between gnome and xfce, but....

Had it working ok via in Ubuntu but had some comp issues after installing the conexant driver. However I know believe it is simply my hardrive going down the tube that has been giving me linux crashes. We'll see how long my OS lasts today and then may have to send it into HP to have them fix it. Two years and already having HD problems, how sad.
