I have been using Linux as my sole OS since 2001 and have been using Ubuntu as my sole Linux distro since 2005. I installed Linux Mint (maya) as a dual-boot option last week and I'm highly impressed.
My machine is an Acer Aspire One and I use Linux for everything from surfing the internet to editing graphics.
* Linux Mint seems much faster than what I've seen in Ubuntu over the years
* I haven't seen a single problem with Mint
* I love the mint menu
* I gave up on gnome shell, too many headaches, and maya is awesome
* Everything worked out-of-the-box
Seriously, mad props to the Linux Mint team. I've found a new default distro and I recommend it to everyone.
