Lenovo v570 No battery indicator after a clean installation

Post by beko »

Hello, Iam having a strange problem I installed maya and now kde 13 and got the same issue ... The battery indicator works fine in live mode using my usb drive but once I install the system to my hard drive the power indicator disapper which is very annoying to a laptop user because I can't see the battery level and the laptop just shutdown without any notifications when the power runs out . I tried to add a widget that shows the battery level but it looked like it didnt detect the battery! it's a brand new laptop and works fine with Windows 7 . If anybody ran through a problem like this please advise.

that makes me think you have not acpi module loaded for battery status.
post result of:
cat /boot/config* | grep ACPI
Then post here the reult of:
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info &&
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/status
If it says file non exists change BAT0 in BAT1.

I had a similar problem with Toshiba laptop... some sort of incompatibility kernel <> Toshiba acpitable. And the fix was to modify kernel. I gave up. That was my first disappointment in Linux Mint.
The second was - I couldn't install Huawei 3g modem. Not even with a sakis3g script. It was there, but always disconnected.
