I've settled on Mint 13 KDE is my current operating system for most of my computing needs, and did a clean install. I've successfully installed and used Downverter (for downloading YouTube vids and converting to mp3 format) in Linux Mint 12 and 13 with MATE in the past. I would like to continue using Downverter but it won't install into Mint 13 KDE for some reason.
If someone could suggest a fix or some alternative software that would meet my needs , it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Youtube Downloading and Converting
If you don't mind using the command line, try "youtube-dl". It has options to save in various formats.
If you get an error message when youtube-dl tries to create the mp3 version, you may need to install "libavcodec-extra-53".

Re: Youtube Downloading and Converting
Your solution worked and I did have to install "libavcodec-extra-53". It's a bit of a pain using a command line and would prefer to use a program like Downverter. At least I can do what I need to do.asdfasdf wrote:If you don't mind using the command line, try "youtube-dl". It has options to save in various formats.
