Touch pad problems in Cinnamon only

Postby c-m on Tue Jul 31, 2012 2:54 pm

I'm running an Acer Aspire One with Mint Cinnamon and am experiencing some issues with the touch pad.

Firstly, its very slow/insensitive, I'm used to a fast responsive touch pad but now It takes about 5 strokes to reach the edge of the screen.

All the touch pad speed and sensitivity settings are turned up full. The touch pad works great in XBMC fullscreen (in cinnamon) and is lightening quick. It also works in Mate with no issues.

Secondly, though I believe this is well known elsewhere, edge scrolling doesn't work in nautilus within Mint Cinnamon. This is a massive pain. Works fine in every other application i've tested, along with the following distros Ubuntu 12.04, Mate, Fubuntu.

Any help would be great. Cheers.

Which touch pad do you have? I've got a Synaptic one.

Also if using the ATI Catalyst drivers, have you tried setting the menubar to autohide? When i do this every time I need to call the bar the screen corrupts for a split second.

I'll have to see if it's Synaptic, not sure.
I'm not running Catalyst drivers, cause suspend doesn't work then...

Touch pad sometimes becomes inactive after suspend (closing the lid). The machine is a Lenovo 520 ThinkPad running on LM13, 64, Cinnamon. There is a second cursor device on this ThinkPad, I think it's called a Glide Point. After the touchpad freezes, I use the Glide Point to go to Menu, Logout. After signing back in the touchpad is working again.
