Dear all,
Is there any official list of packages, which must/should not be in
nocodecs ISO image?
I'm remastering Linux Mint 12 KDE & Xfce desktop versions ISO images
for Japanese local community. As you know, distributing the ISO image
itself might get Japanese local community into trouble with the law
because of conflicting with patent law & unfair competition prevention
law in Japan.
By comparison between packages in with-codecs ISO images (
linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-32bit.iso,
linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-64bit.iso linuxmint-13-mate-dvd-32bit.iso,
linuxmint-13-mate-dvd-64bit.iso) and in nocodecs ISO images (
linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-nocodecs-32bit.iso,
linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-nocodecs-64bit.iso
linuxmint-13-mate-dvd-nocodecs-32bit.iso,
linuxmint-13-mate-dvd-nocodecs-64bit.iso), I find following packages
are purged from with-codecs ISO images and not in nocodecs ISO images.
cabextract
gecko-mediaplayer
gnome-mplayer
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
libdvdcss2
libdvdnav4
libdvdread4
libmjpegtools-1.9
libmp3lame0
libquicktime2
libxvidcore4
mint-flashplugin
mint-flashplugin-11
mint-meta-cinnamon-dvd
mint-meta-codecs
mplayer2
unrar
unshield
vlc
vlc-nox
vlc-plugin-notify
vlc-plugin-pulse
w32codecs
w64codecs
Is purging these packages from ISO images (
linuxmint-13-kde-dvd-32bit.iso linuxmint-13-kde-dvd-64bit.iso
linuxmint-13-xfce-dvd-32bit.iso linuxmint-13-xfce-dvd-64bit.iso)
sufficient to making a legal nocodecs ISO image?
Any information, however small, would be appreciated.
