LiveCD: Xserver fails, error = 100%

Post by super6 »

Whenever I boot off the liveCD it goes through all its loading process and gets to a blank screen with a flashing cursor where it sits a while before finally saying that the Xserver had a problem and it asks if I want to see the error. I hit yes and it just shows a big box like the one the error message came in with "100%" in the bottom right corner, that's it.

That's a new one for me :)
Have you tried "Safe graphics mode"?
If not I guess that does it...

It was on safe graphics and I tried it with the break=button option as well. I get this on the main edition as well as fluxbox.

I had a problem booting on a Dell Inspiron 1100. I changed the BIOS to allow 8MB for the video card. I booted in Safe Graphics Mode and replaced "quiet splash --" with "break=button". It was my last option, but it worked just fine and I was finally able to install.
