Re: Linux Mint installed but fails to boot-Have Boot repair
The error message at the end is probably the clue.
Are you installing from a USB drive?
Do you have enough ram?

I am using a usb. I'm not sure how to know if I have enough ram but I think I do. I use to have Vista on it and Ubuntu worked fine as well.

This is a mystery.
Your fdisk -l is
Your sda1 starts at 2048 - which should be fine, and yet you have the warning:
Did you try to boot the hard drive after the boot repair?
Your fdisk -l is
Code: Select all
Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders, total 234441648 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x000d1464
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 2048 230252543 115125248 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 230254590 234440703 2093057 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 230254592 234440703 2093056 82 Linux swap / Solaris
I am afraid I don't understand what is going on there. The boot files of [Linux Mint 13 Maya] are far from the start of the disk. Your BIOS may not detect them.

Re: Linux Mint installed but fails to boot-Have Boot repair
Yea. I should have said this but it goes black and says "No Bootable devices--strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility press f5 to run onboard diagnostics." It acts like its not installed but i've reinstalled it a few times and it always shows up during reinstallation to either duel boot or replace it. Thanks for taking a look by the way.

Hi friend,
The boot sector of operating system Linux contains all the necessary information of files stored on your hard disk of computer. But the installation of the OS fails if this Boot sector is corrupted so you there comes a need of repair. You may also face an error message 2048 while installing the OS. There are many repair software's available online which are specifically designed to repair error message 2048. Thus you can download the software and repair your corrupted boot sector. Try the software and do reply me.
Thanks,
seley
