System emblems on MATE desktop

Every GNOME/MATE user knows well what folder emblems are and most of us have at least once decorated a folder icon with them. My question, however, regards automatically-added emblems which appear by folder icons regardless of whether you want it or not, e.g. a hard drive emblem on folders which are mount points for file systems.

I would like to configure this automatic behavior and know how to create my own "smart emblems" and how to get rid of those which annoy me. Please, tell me where can I find the scripts or configuration files responsible for this aspect of file manager.
