When I use the web on a windows os I have one utility that deletes history, cookies, temp files and so forth, then another utility that overwrites all unused space on the hard disc. This guarantees as much privacy as possible.
In Mint, Firefox already has tools to delete history, cookies, etc. I'd like to use secure-delete to overwrite the unused disc space.
Is there a front end for secure-delete?
Can someone share the command line entries I'd use in terminal to overwrite all unused hard drive space safely, not removing any data?
I found one article on using secure-delete in Linux, but I'm uncertain about the mounting point.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: Using Secure-Delete
It is pretty hard to recover data from ext3 partitions anyway, so you are probably just as secure without using it as you are with using it in Windows. Check out http://batleth.sapienti-sat.org/project ... 3-faq.html for more info (it is hard, but not impossible, but no matter what you do Ibas knows a solution, so...).
Re: Using Secure-Delete
Well, that's certainly interesting. One more reason to prefer Linux over the worlds most popular OS, eh?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Using Secure-Delete
Not really, it could be both an advantage and an disadvantage, depends on the situation..
