How To:Install Mint 13 on HP dv6636nr

The b43 wireless and nvidia graphics dont work on a standard install on this laptop. trying to boot the CD normal will result in distorted graphics / unuseable desktop.

how i got mint 13 installed on a hp dv6636nr laptop

make sure linux mint 13 dvd is in the drive; boot computer from cd/dvd

hit f6 when mint splash screen comes up

choose compatiblity mode

install linux mint 13

upon reboot hold shift to enter the GRUB menu

add b43.blacklist=yes nomodeset to the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFUALT after quiet splash

boot into MATE go to additional drivers and install broadcom sta and nvidia drivers

reboot, x-server wont load thats okay

login at the full screen command line

drop to su

run nvidia-xconfig

reboot

should have a working desktop! yay!
