I'd like to be able to shutdown my laptop it five keystrokes or less.
In Windows XP, this can be done by pressing Windows key -> up arrow -> enter -> u
I don't believe there is a similar method in linux.
When I hit the power button on my laptop, I do see the "Shut down this system now?" menu, but if something else had focus at the time of the button pressing, that dialog won't have focus. That means the esc key can't abort it, nor can the arrow keys be used to make a selection.

Re: Shutdown/ restart in 5 keystrokes or less
Better idea:
Terminal > sudo init 0
Done. Was that so hard?
Terminal > sudo init 0
Done. Was that so hard?
Re: Shutdown/ restart in 5 keystrokes or less
That's like 11 keystrokes not counting how many it takes to get into terminal, so not even close to 5.
